In the bathrooms there are little counter tops for lotions, tissues and the like and this is what they will set on!

The Inspired Aging Classroom has a lovely island with a sink and work area. This is the counter for the island.

The coffee house began a little while back, currently they are working on plumbing, walls and cabinets.

If you have ever gotten the urge to write on the wall this is the profession for you.

We are still on schedule. Official moving will happen the last week of December/early January after inspections have occurred.

What has been my favorite part about this week is the fresh paint on the walls. The color Palette is such that the walls are warm and inviting but modern and exciting. Blue, Green, Orange, Purple and shades of gray are engulfing the new space.

After the very brief and effective builders meeting, each leg of the team broke off to discuss more specific questions; including Ruth, Michelle, Sheila, Dr. Jasper and Leah’s voicing various questions about the Accelarando Coffee House.

Neat Tidbit:

We will be installing Acoustic Wall covering to our Choir Rehearsal Room, Orchestra Rehearsal Room, Commons Pillars and one of the large classrooms on the north side of the building. This is going to absorb some of the sound that would not normally be absorbed into the current cement blocks. The designer, Leah Bauer, was able to find the colors we need with the lime green and the top left blue you see below. No orange, sadly. But it will still add a nice pop of color and help with sounds that bounce about.

Receptacles: a contact device installed at an outlet for the connection of a portable lamp, appliance or other electric device by means of a plug and flexible cord.

Currently the initial steps to put up the new walls are underway. There is metal framing that is laid on the floor and ceiling and then connected with the metal supports.

Walking into the orchestra room you could see the wall, that used to have acoustic sound boarding on it, currently looking like uneven cement. The plan was to cover it with acoustic carpet, the carpet would show every bump and seem and so the team is brainstorming easy ways to make it look sharp. Unsure how this will be handled we are awaiting quotes on the different options.

We will have some solution so when we put the acoustic carpet on the wall will be smooth.

There was a little talk about the air handlers and heating coils and some additional work that was not foreseen. This is all being dealt with this and next week.

Meeting with a potential mover was quite eye opening. There are so many things to be thinking about with the move. We received a quote back from them and are able to get that on the schedule as happening, pending any set backs.

This coming week, we will be walking through with Cox Cable and Warehouse Productions.

Officially Started!

This is really happening! The team was hard at work making decisions, tearing down old chalk and white boards, removing old carpets and sending dust flying. At the first official weekly build-out meeting, team members were cheery and presented any questions that had arisen during the week’s work, as well as updating everyone’s progress in each area of construction. A fresh coat of paint does not begin to describe the amount of work that goes into a project like this. Did you know that when putting up a light fixture the clearance zone needs to be a certain size for certain bulbs… the bulbs can not “just fit.”

We are lucky and excited that the demolition and construction by Lueder is going to go quite smoothly with an amazing team of workers.

The Leo A Daly architecture plans that the worker is holding are at least 20 pages of thorough drawings and notes covering; walls, lighting, electricity, plumbing and fire codes. This is just the start.  After the meeting was over we sat down with Leah, OCM Board Member as well as Project Manager and Interior Designer for the new space, to figure out our decor and needs for each studio.
